For assignment two we have been asked to summarize at least five different types of resources about how technology can be used in a classroom to teach a topic of our choice. The purpose of this is to practise researching information that we may require in our future study's or as teachers to be.
I have chosen to do mine on the solar system because it was a subject I enjoyed doing in my primary schools years, and I think many other children find it interesting as well. Please click on the link provided to read my report.

I found this assignment very challenging because I am not used to researching for many of the resources required; although that is probably the reason for the assignment to get students out of there comfort zone and exploring further, how else are we going to be able to teach students these things if we aren't capable ourselves'. During the process of this task I had to change my topic three times because I was finding it so hard to get conference papers and books on the topic i first chose ( which was dance and then the arts in general because that is my passion), and was spending hours just wasting time searching. I decided to go with a new subject and thats when i chose the solar system.
This assignment has helped me a lot, it has opened me up to new places to research such as google scholar and bing, also new ways to narrow your search down like putting an - conference paper after the search name you are after to recieve information on conference papers.
A program that I used in this assignment to help with my referencing is called EndNote, It allows you to put in all the information needed for your referencing page and citations as you go along and saves them to your library. It gives you the option to use an style referencing type to suit your needs: I used APA 6th addition.
To get EndNote for yourself (if you are a Murdoch university student) you just need to go to the IT department in the library with your details and year of word software and they will email you will a link to download the program for free. Just below you will find a picture of my EndNote library and EndNote word tool bar used for this assignment which will give you a bit of an idea of how Endnote looks and works. You will also find a youtube video attached that gives an introduction on how to use the software.
