Digital Storytelling Project

The purpose of assignment three was to create a authentic learning task in a Wikispace for a primary school year group of our choice. We had to work in groups with other students, my group consisted of Tash Cussons and Lisa Ford, and we all chose the group name of BLT. Our group decided to create our authentic task using digital storytelling which we found fits perfectly into the English, reading and writing curriculum. Our wiki includes a home page, where you will find an introduction and task overview. From the homepage you will see some links that will take you to either students resource page, teachers resource page or resources in general. Each of these pages provide information for either teachers or students on how to create or teach this authentic task.

Digital story telling is the word used to explain creating a story using computer based technology. Just like traditional stories, they include characters, a plot and they explore a particular point of view. But as implied in the name it requires digital resources which makes the process of creating these stories more fun and engaging, whilst allowing students to practice and enhance their technology skills. It is highly unlikely that in the future these students will never have to use technology and that is why it is an essential part of teaching in the twenty first century.

Directly below I have provided the video presentation about our project and please feel free to browse our digital storytelling wiki for yourself.
