Endnote
So today I decided to download the program Endnote, I heard that this was a really great program to help you with your referencing and I thought I’d give it a go.
To download this program I heading down to the IT desk in the library on the 2nd floor, once I got there I spoke to an It consultant about how I was to download the file, they handed me a form to fill out which required my name, email address, type of software my computer ran and the year. From here they sent me out an email telling me to follow the links, when I did this the file download but the program would not open. I tried talking to another student from my tutorial about the problem but they hadn’t tried to retrieve the program as of yet so we decided to go down to the library and sort it out together.
We got to the library and explained to them that to download the program fully we had to put in a five digit number which we never received with the email that was sent, the IT was pretty helpful because they told us that it should just download automatically without this pin and if it didn’t to just download the demo version of the program and there will be link in the program after this was done to get the whole version.
However, I did try to do this and I got a little further but unfortunately the program still wouldn’t download a little box kept popping up saying it was unable to download, I again asked another student and they also had the same problem they told me to press ignore, I did this and I finally got it up and running.
The program is really simple to use, all you do is put in the information needed to do a reference so for a book you would need the author, year of publication, book title, place of publication and the publisher. After these details are ended the program will automatically put your in text citation into your text and a reference at the bottom of your essay etc.
I find this program to be very user friendly and saves a lot of time, I do recommend that anyone that is going to be doing a lot of referencing to grab a hold of this and use it to their advantage, I defiantly feel as though this is going to be a big help to me now and in my future studies. I am very glad I persisted with the downloading even though is a bit of a hassle. I hope anyone interested in using this program doesn’t have the same issues as some others and myself.
Good Luck!
